3/19/2026: 鈥淣o Leave Taken鈥 Entry No Longer Required in Absence Management

Dear Toros,

I am writing to inform you of an important update to Absence Management time and attendance reporting requirements.

BACKGROUND

In our current PeopleSoft environment, employees were required to enter and certify 鈥No Leave Taken鈥 in Absence Management for any pay period which no leave or time was used. This requirement applied to all absence-eligible employees.听

WHAT'S CHANGING

Effective March 1, 2026, employees are no longer required to enter 鈥淣o Leave Taken鈥 in Absence Management if no leave or time (e.g., vacation, sick leave, etc.) is used during a pay period.

WHAT THIS MEANS FOR YOU

  • If you do not take leave or use reportable time, no entry is required in Absence Management.
  • If you do take leave or use reportable time, you are still responsible for entering and certifying your absences in Absence Management as usual.

NEXT STEPS

On March 23, once the office of Human Resources confirms that we are live with CHRS, employees will be instructed to complete their Absence Management entries. Only employees who have reportable time will need to complete this step. Absences will need to be entered by March 31, and Appropriate Administrators will have until April 5 to complete the approval process.

To learn more about CHRS, please visit the CHRS webpage.

For questions related to the elimination of 鈥淣o Leave Taken鈥 in Absence Management and your reporting responsibilities, feel free to contact Payroll Services at (562)985-8897 or DHPayrollServices@csulb.edu.

12/22/2025: CHRS Update: CHRS Progress & What's Ahead

Dear Toros,

As we approach the winter break, we鈥檇 like to share a brief update on the Common Human Resources System (CHRS) and what it means for Cal State Dominguez Hills. CHRS is a campuswide change focused on simplifying HR processes, increasing transparency, and improving the employee experience. Our goal is to ensure CSUDH is well-prepared, well-supported, and positioned for a smooth transition.

WHERE WE ARE - PASS B

Across the CSU, CHRS adoption continues to grow. Nearly one-third of CSU campuses are now live, including recent Wave 3 campuses that successfully launched this past spring. Their experience has helped refine training, documentation, and adoption strategies that directly inform our approach at CSUDH.

CSUDH is part of Wave 4, with a targeted March 2026 go-live. This spring timeline was intentionally selected to avoid peak academic periods and allow focused support for campus users.

WHAT THIS MEANS FOR CSUDH EMPLOYEES

CHRS will introduce:
  • A new Temporary Academic Employment (TAE) module with clearer workflows to help streamline the appointment/reappointment of temporary academic employees
  • Expanded employee self-service and improved process visibility for time and absence reporting, and benefits enrollment
  • New personnel transaction form (currently known as the eFast)

Just as important, CHRS connects CSUDH to systemwide collaboration鈥攁llowing campuses to share best practices, training resources, and lessons learned.

HOW WE鈥橰E SUPPORTING THE CHANGE

Change management is central to this effort. Our focus includes:

  • Phased testing and readiness activities for the implementation team
  • Targeted training and clear communications 鈥 See the new CHRS Training Website听to learn more about upcoming process changes
  • Opportunities for campus feedback and continuous improvement through upcoming webinars and training sessions

To support transparency, the CSUDH CHRS webpage has been updated and will remain the central hub for progress updates, timelines, and resources.

LOOKING AHEAD

While implementation work continues behind the scenes, each step brings us closer to a more efficient and user-friendly HR experience. Thank you for your continued engagement as we prepare for this important transition.

4/24/2025: Common Human Resources System (CHRS) Update

Dear CSUDH Campus Community,

CSUDH is now five months into Wave 4 of the 好色先生 (CSU) system-wide initiative to implement the Common Human Resources System (CHRS). This modern, integrated platform is designed to transform how we manage human resources, benefits, payroll, and related services across the campus.

WHAT鈥橲 HAPPENING NOW?

While there are no visible changes for employees at this time, our campus teams are actively working behind the scenes in collaboration with the Chancellor鈥檚 Office and our fellow Wave 4 campuses (Sonoma, Bakersfield, Monterey Bay, Pomona, San Marcos, and LA). We are approaching a key internal milestone known as Pass A, an important step in ensuring the system is set up properly for CSUDH鈥檚 unique needs.

WHY CHRS MATTERS?

CHRS is more than just a system upgrade鈥攊t鈥檚 an opportunity to reimagine and modernize how we operate across the campus. Beyond the technical improvements, this implementation allows us to

  • Increase efficiency and reduce redundancy
  • Improve business processes that align with CHRS functionality
  • Identify pain points in current processes and address them during implementation
  • Recommend and adopt CSU-wide best practices

Ultimately, CHRS will deliver major benefits to employees, including:

    • Standardization: Consistent HR processes and reporting across all CSU campuses.
    • Efficiency: A consolidated platform for HR functions, reducing manual work and redundancy.
    • Security: Stronger data security and privacy protocols.
    • Transparency: Employees will have easier access to HR services, making it simpler to manage personal and employment data.

    LOOKING AHEAD

In the future, you鈥檒l start to hear more about what CHRS will mean for you, including timelines, training opportunities, and how the new system will support your day-to-day HR needs. For now, our goal is to keep you informed and aware of what鈥檚 coming.

    STAY INFORMED

To learn more, we encourage you to:

    • Watch the from the Chancellor's Office
    • Visit the the CSUDH CHRS Websitefor updates and project resources
    • Reach out to Human Resources at hrm@csudh.edu or (310)243-3771 with any questions.
