The Department of Political Science offers a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science and a Minor in Political Science. These programs help students develop strong analytical, research, communication, and critical thinking skills while building a deeper understanding of politics, government, public policy, international affairs, and political thought.
Bachelor of Arts in Political Science
The Bachelor of Arts in Political Science prepares students for careers in public service, law, business, nonprofit organizations, and graduate study. Students pursuing the major choose one of four concentrations to deepen their knowledge in a particular area of political science.

American Government, Law and Politics
Study American political institutions, constitutional law, elections, public policy, and the legal system while preparing for careers in law, government, and public service.
International Relations and Comparative Politics
Examine global politics, foreign policy, international organizations, and comparative political systems while preparing for careers in diplomacy, international organizations, public service, and global business.
Political Theory
Explore democracy, justice, liberty, equality, and the ideas that have shaped political thought from classical to contemporary perspectives.
General Political Science
Build a broad understanding of political science through flexible coursework spanning American government, international relations, comparative politics, political theory, and public policy.
Minor in Political Science
The Minor in Political Science complements a wide variety of majors by helping students develop a deeper understanding of politics, government, public policy, international affairs, and political thought. The minor consists of 15 units of upper-division Political Science coursework.
