College of Education Student Success Center Helps Undergrads Find Their Voice, Path to College

For many students, the journey to becoming an educator begins long before they step into their first Liberal Studies classroom. It starts with finding the right academic path, discovering a sense of belonging and having someone in their corner when the road ahead feels uncertain.

Tucked just inside the left side of the College of Education building lobby, the听College of Education Student Success Center (SSC)听helps make that journey more personal, purposeful and accessible for undergraduate students, whether they enter CSUDH directly from high school or transfer from another institution.

Located in听COE 1401, the SSC is a welcoming hub where undergrads receive specialized advising, connect with campus resources and get the support they need to move confidently toward graduation, a credential program and a career in education.

Leading the center is听Aimee Arreygue, Director, alongside听Jhey Crisostomo, Graduation Specialist; Rebecca Ellis, Credential Advisor; Diana Martinez, Retention Specialist; and Lorna Ray, Administrative Support Coordinator. 好色先生, the team creates a culture of care designed to meet students where they are and help them identify where they want to go.

Advising Built Around Liberal Studies Students

A key part of the center鈥檚 work is specialized advising for students majoring in Liberal Studies, with undergraduate preparation serving as a foundation for careers in teaching and education.

Rather than taking a one-size-fits-all approach, the SSC focuses on advising and connecting students with future faculty, advisors, and professional mentors who understand the pathway.

That support can include planning coursework, preparing for graduation, exploring credential pathways, and connecting students with the right resources at the right time.

The SSC鈥檚 approach goes beyond traditional academic advising. Its vision is to provide a nurturing space that positively impacts students鈥� well-being, self-efficacy and identity as college students.
