Toro CARE Grant

The Toro CARE Grant exclusively provides support for non-recurring, unexpected basic needs expenses due to unforeseen circumstances affecting current CSUDH students. Qualified students can be provided financial assistance one time per academic year.

Eligibility

To be eligible for the Toro CARE Grant, an individual must meet the following criteria:听

  1. Currently enrolled, degree-seeking student at CSUDH for current semester of Toro CARE Grant request (summer sessions included). Open university students are听NOT听eligible.听听
  2. Must have experienced a recent, unplanned, and unexpected hardship that resulted in an urgent financial need affecting the individual鈥檚 basic needs, well-being, academics, and/or success. The urgent financial need must be verified through appropriate documentation.听

      If you are a recipient of theMiddle ClassScholarship (MCS), you will need to speak with Financial Aid, asthe Toro CARE Grant may affect your financial aidpackage.


      Review Process

      • Once submitted, your application will be routed for review.
      • Your application will be reviewed by a committee, which may take approximately 1-2 weeks to complete.
      • Approvals and denials will be confirmed via email. If denied, you may reapply.

      FAQ

    Am I eligible for the Toro CARE Grant if I am not enrolled in the current term/semester?

    No. Students are only eligible to apply for the term they are currently enrolled in.

    Summer Session: If you are not enrolled in the summer term, you are not eligible for the basic needs grant. If you would like to speak with a coordinator regarding eligibility, please contact the Toro CARE team.

    Are international students eligible to apply?

    Yes.

    Are undocumented students eligible to apply?

    Yes.

    Are Open University students eligible?

    No.

    How is the Toro CARE Grant disbursed?

    Grants are awarded through Financial Aid. Once Financial Aid disburses your Toro CARE Grant, you should receive your funds within a few business days if you are enrolled in direct deposit with Financial Aid (depending on your bank, it could be sooner or later). If you are not enrolled in direct deposit, a check will be mailed to the address you have on file on MyCSUDH portal. We encourage students to enroll in direct deposit with Student Financial Services.
