Mission Statement

The Toro Learning and Testing Center (TLTC) is dedicated to fostering academic excellence and student empowerment at CSU Dominguez Hills. Through its Learning Center, TLTC promotes a culture of inclusive and engaged scholarship, offering peer-based academic support that integrates students into the intellectual and cultural fabric of the university.

The Testing Center supports this mission by upholding the highest standards of testing integrity, equity, and accessibility. It provides a secure, confidential, and professional testing environment that respects the diverse needs of students while promoting educational and personal development.

Proctoring Services

The Toro Learning and Testing Center provides secure, professional proctoring for computer-based and paper exams. Staff use surveillance, in-room walkthroughs, and assigned seating to ensure academic integrity. Services support placement, makeup, accommodated, and credit-by-exam testing in a comfortable, distraction-reduced environment.

Proctoring Fees


Proctor fees will be due at the conclusion of the examination. Payment will be completed through the Testing Center Marketplace Portal.

Proctoring Rates
  • Free for CSUDH students: Up to 2-hours; (CSUDH students must pay regular rates beyond 2-hours)
  • $25: 1-Hour
  • $35: 90-minutes
  • $45: 2-Hours
  • $65: 3-Hours
  • $85: 4-hours

    *Note:听Proctor services will no longer be pro-rated. Students will pay a flat fee based on the numbers of hours needed for the exam set forth by their instructor.

Examinee Responsibilities

  • All students must have a valid, government or school issued photo ID to test, (see identification guidelines).
  • Students testing with the Toro Learning and Testing Center are responsible for ensuring that all required forms are completed prior to scheduling their appointment. Furthermore, it is the student鈥檚 responsibility to ensure that materials are sent to the CSUDH Toro Learning and Testing Center before their appointment.
  • Students who check-in 15 minutes after their exam appointment are subject to cancellation. Please notify Testing immediately if you will be more than 15 minutes late.
  • Missing a scheduled appointment without notifying the office prior to test may result in the student being ineligible to use Testing Center proctoring services.
  • Students are expected to adhere to the Academic Integrity policy of their home institution.
  • Students testing with the Toro Learning & Testing Center must adhere to the masking and Covid-19 policies and procedures set forth by the institution and L.A. County Dept. of Heath.

Identification Guidelines


Students are required to present a current photo ID to test.
All identification must be an original document 鈥� photocopied documents are not acceptable; bear the student's, full name, in English language characters, as it appears in our system (middle initials are optional and only need to match the first letter of the middle name); and bear a recent, recognizable photograph that clearly matches the student.

Examples of acceptable forms of ID are provided below:
  • Student ID card
  • State issued ID card
  • Driver's license
  • Passport
  • Citizenship card (with photo)
  • Military ID

CLEP Services

The College Level Examination Program (CLEP) is a computer-based credit by examination program. 34 exams are offered covering the areas of business, composition & literature, foreign language, history & social sciences, science & mathematics. Earning a passing score on a CLEP exams can help student earn credit towards general education requirements and/or the completion of an undergraduate degree.

Before making a CLEP Proctoring appointment with the CSUDH Testing Center, you must have already registered for your preferred CLEP exam. Choose an option above to begin making a CLEP proctoring appointment. Appointments should be made 3-4 days in advance.

Step by Step Guide for CLEP Registration

DH students should always meet with an academic advisor before registering for the CLEP to ensure that the exam of choice will earn the appropriate credit.

  1. Register for the CLEP exam of choice:听
    • CLEP Fee is $90 per exam.
      • Note: For the 2023-24 school year (July 1, 2023 -June 30, 2024) the CLEP exam fee will be $93.
    • Print out the voucher. The exam voucher will serve as the exam admission ticket.
  2. Contact the Testing Center to schedule the exam appointment:听;听, or听Click here to make an appointment by email or phone call. Students must register for the CLEP prior to scheduling their appointment.
    • The CLEP exam is a computer-based examination.
    • Estimated exam time is 90 minutes.
    • Appointments should be made 3-4 business days in advanced.
    • A $35 proctor fee, payable by check or money order will be due on the day of the exam.
  3. Registered students must have the following items on test day:
    • A valid photo ID:
      • Government-issued driver's license or non-driver ID card.
      • Official school-produced student ID card from the school you currently attend.
      • Government-issued passport.
      • Government-issued military or national identification card.
    • A printout of your voucher from CLEP.
      1. The exam cannot be activated without the voucher.
    • Administrative Fee: $35 will be due at the completion of the exam. This fee is separate from the registration fee. Students can pay by card, check, or money order.
Eligible Course Credits through CLEP Exams

The University presently is operating under the following CLEP credit policy. The minimum standards are as follows:

GENERAL EXAMINATIONS

Student must achieve a minimum passing standard score of 50.

Credit granted for general examinations in humanities and natural science may be used to fulfill General Education requirements as applicable; if not applicable to General Education, elective credit will be granted.

SUBJECT EXAMINATIONS

Student must achieve a minimum passing standard score as determined by the University for each examination.

Credit will be given only for those examinations determined to be equivalent to CSU Dominguez Hills courses and may be used to fulfill General Education, major, minor or elective requirements.

A student shall not receive credit through CLEP for taking a test in a subject more elementary than those already passed.

1听If a student passes more than one CLEP test in the same language other than English (e.g., two exams in French), then only one examination may be applied to the baccalaureate. For each test in a language other than English, a passing score of 50 is considered "Level I" and earns six units of baccalaureate credit; the higher score listed for each test is considered "Level II" and earns additional units of credit and placement in Area C3 of GE Breadth, as noted.
