The Little Black Dress Campaign (LBDC) at CSUDH is an initiative by the Center for Advocacy, Prevention & Empowerment (CAPE) aimed at raising awareness about sexual assault, standing in solidarity with survivors, and challenging misconceptions related to sexual violence. At the forefront of the campaign is challenging the notion that how a person dresses leads to sexual assault. "What were you wearing?" is a common question that survivors of sexual assault are asked. This question implies that how the person was dressed caused the sexual assault. We use a little black dress as a symbol to represent the victim-blaming attitudes present in our society. We use the empowering text, "A Little Black Dress Does Not Mean Yes," for the campaign to create a powerful visual message that can spark conversations and help promote change.
Join the Campaign
This campaign relies on passionate and dedicated LBDC Ambassadors, comprising CSUDH students, staff, and faculty. Ambassadors complete a 30鈥�45-minute LBDC ambassador workshop, which empowers participants with the knowledge and skills to engage others in meaningful conversations about sexual assault and survivor support. Upon completion, Ambassadors receive an exclusive campaign dress or T-shirt.
The Little Black Dress Campaign is a welcoming and inclusive space for all CSUDH students, faculty, and staff, regardless of gender identity. The event and supplies are free, ensuring that everyone can participate and contribute to our mission of challenging misconceptions related to sexual violence and raising awareness about sexual assault.
