CAPE is the Center for Advocacy, Prevention & Empowerment at CSU Dominguez Hills.
CAPE provides confidential support, education, and prevention related to interpersonal harm, including unwanted sexual experiences, relationship abuse and harm, and stalking. Services are available to CSUDH students, staff, and faculty.
CAPE also works across campus to strengthen prevention, education, and supportive responses to interpersonal harm through training, outreach, and collaboration.

Meet the CAPE Team
CAPE鈥檚 team includes trained professionals who have completed specialized training in sexual assault and domestic violence advocacy and counseling. Staff work collaboratively to provide support with care, respect, and choice.
Mayra Romo
Director
Mayra Romo serves as the Director of the Center for Advocacy, Prevention & Empowerment (CAPE) at CSU Dominguez Hills. With more than 15 years of experience in survivor advocacy, training, and prevention education, she provides confidential support to students, staff, and faculty impacted by interpersonal harm.
In her role, Mayra leads campus-wide initiatives to strengthen institutional responses to sexual violence, intimate partner harm, and stalking while advancing prevention, education, and survivor-centered practices. She also serves as a councilmember on the Los Angeles County Sexual Assault Council and is currently pursuing a Doctor of Education in Educational Leadership for Justice at CSUDH.
Karina Padilla
Coordinator of Survivor Support
Karina Padilla is the Coordinator of Survivor Support at CAPE. In this role, she provides confidential crisis intervention, academic and safety planning, and advocacy for students impacted by sexual assault, domestic violence, and stalking.
Karina works closely with students to support their well-being, navigate campus and community resources, and explore options at their own pace. Her work is grounded in survivor-centered, trauma-informed, and equity-focused practices.
