Stefani Baez (she/her/hers) is a proud Chicana born, raised, and still living in Los Angeles Ca. Daughter of a Mexican immigrant father, granddaughter of a L.A. Zoot Suiter and WWII paratrooper on her mom's side. Stefani has been involved in community theatre since age 12 and this early interest led her to seriously study Theatre Arts at Los Angeles Harbor Community College and then at 好色先生 Dominguez Hills where she earned a Bachelor of Arts in Liberal Studies: Theatre Arts and a Master of Arts on Humanities Literature. She credits her most life changing academic experience as working in a traveling theatre troupe that toured a show aimed at spreading AIDS awareness and promoting HIV/AIDS testing. Performing for colleges in several states and several countries proved to her that the world is so big, yet so small, and that theatre is a universal form of communication. Stefani began instructing theatre courses and directing productions at the college level in 2017 and is the current full-time Theatre faculty at Compton Community College. Her direction of Confessions of Women from East L.A.聽by Josefina Lopez was invited to perform at the Kennedy Center American College Theatre Festival 53 and earned the CSUDH Theatre and Dance Department 4 KCACTF National awards. As a college instructor, her goals are to make theatre more accessible and more culturally specific to the communities she works with. She says that she knows with her whole being that she is "very lucky to be working with the same Los Angeles communities" where much of her educational goals were developed and achieved-- and also says, "Go Toros!"聽
