This is a program for Registered Nurses or students nearing the completion of their Associate Degree in Nursing Program (ADN) at a regionally accredited institution, who are seeking a Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN).Ìý This is not a program to become a nurse*.Ìý

BSN courses are offered online to deliver the curriculum wherever and whenever you are ready to learn.Ìý Tests are sometimes given on a specific date and time however you are given the information in enough time to accommodate your schedule.ÌýThe courses must be completed within the semester, but you have the flexibility of accessing the courses at the time and place most convenient and for completing assignments by the due dates.ÌýÌý

BSN 381 requires the students to complete health assessment work via Zoom. For clinical BSN 423, the students will complete the clinical hours at appropriate agencies in the student’s community. More details can be found at the BSN Clinical Handbook at:/son/clinical/

Registered Nurses with a Non-Nursing Bachelor degree

Nurses with a bachelor's degree in a non-nursing field who would like to prepare for admission into an MSN program will have the opportunity to receive their BSN by completing the RN-BSN program.Ìý

Pre-Requisites to the Nursing Program

The following courses must be completed, passed and on an official transcript before applying to the program.Ìý If they are not, admission may be denied.Ìý In addition, they will only be accepted from a regionally accredited college or university.Ìý It is recommended that you obtain GE Certification from a community college prior to admission.

  • College Chemistry: general, inorganic, organic or integrated (with associated lab if required at the institution where the course was taken)†
  • Human anatomy (with required lab)

  • Microbiology (with required lab)

† Chemistry must be at least 3 units.ÌýIf the institution where you choose to complete Chemistry offers a lab component, then both lecture and lab are required. Statistics must include inferential and descriptive statistics and may be upper or lower division for post-bacs. Undergraduates should take an Area 5A Chemistry and an Area 2 Statistics.

Additional requirements include:

  • 60 or more transferable college units (70 semester units/105 quarter units maximum accepted from community colleges and 96 units from a four-year institution)
  • Graduation from a regionally accredited ADN program and current RN licensure in the United States or transcripts noting you are near the end of the ADN program.
  • College GPA of at least 2.0. However, applicants with a Bachelor's degree in another major are considered 2nd baccalaureate students and a GPA of 2.5 from the first Bachelors is required.
  • Residence in a state in which the School of Nursing at ºÃÉ«ÏÈÉú, Dominguez Hills is permitted to deliver online education.
