Program Overview
This program consists of thirteen courses offered for CEU credit and is focused on the duties and responsibilities of a safety manager in the hospitality industry. Participants will be prepared with a solid foundation to manage and facilitate OSHA regulations and meet performance expectations of employers. Course content provides an overview of safety regulations governing the hospitality industry as well as record keeping requirements and accident investigations. Program emphasizes recognition of workplace hazards and conduct risk assessments related to workplace violence, soft tissue injuries and bloodborne pathogens. Participants who complete the certificate program will be able to perform typical functions of a hospitality safety and health manager or risk assessment manager.
Program Learning Outcomes
Students who successfully complete the Certificate program will be able to:
Identify common injuries found in the hospitality industry
Conduct risk assessments of work activities and identify controls
Describe general hospitality operations and procedures
Conduct day to day safety inspections of various work areas in hotels and restaurants
Manage employee accident investigations
Assess competency and coach employees and supervisors on safe work processes
Evaluate, summarize and present data from audits and field observation to stakeholders (employees, supervisors and manager)
Assist supervisors in injury case management
Manage safety program including Injury and Illness Prevention Program and Musculoskeletal Injury

HHSM Certificate Requirements
To earn the certificate participants will complete ten (10) required courses and three (3) elective courses. All courses must be completed within five (5) years. Courses taken through other official OSHA Training Institute Education Centers can be used to fulfill up to four (4) courses required for the Hospitality Health and Safety Manager certificate of completion.
To earn the Hospitality Health and Safety Manager Certificate, participants must complete a total of ten required courses and three elective courses:
Courses are offered for continuing Education Units (CEUs). Nationally recognized standards govern attendance requirements to earn CEU credits. A permanent record is established and students may request CSU Dominguez Hills鈥� transcript either online or by calling the University Records office. Students not pursuing the certificate of completion may take individual courses.
Class Time: 150 Hours
Other Time, including lab: All Courses have lab components that may require the use of personal protective equipment (PPE)
Class Schedules: 鈥擠ay and weekend classes 鈥擲chedule dependent on elective course selections
Program Prerequisites: At least high school-level math, reading, language and writing skills. Minimum 2 years of experience in the industry in which you intend to apply this training.

Program Fee Range: $5,410鈥�$6,095
(If attending on campus, parking fees are required. There are two options: $10/day for daily parking permits or $200 for semester permits.)
Location, Modality & Attendance: Class Requirements
The OSHA Training Institute Education Center (OTIEC) at 好色先生, Dominguez Hills (CSUDH) offers flexible learning options. Most courses are available in a听dual-modality format, allowing students to attend either on campus at CSUDH, or live online via Zoom.听
Courses listed as "Online and On-Campus" are interactive, instructor-led courses conducted simultaneously in a classroom and live online. Students choose their preferred modality at registration and attend either fully in person or fully online; a combination of both is not available.听
Per OSHA鈥檚 guidelines for VILT (Virtual Instructor-Led Training) courses:
Students are REQUIRED to have video capabilities and must be visible at all times to the instructor and facilitator during the class. Unfortunately, if a student cannot comply with this requirement, they will not be able to attend the class.
Students are REQUIRED to attend all days and times听in order to receive a course completion certificate and/or trainer card.
Students must use a desktop or laptop to participate. Tablets or phones are not allowed for the main class activities/lectures; however, you can use a phone for the 2nd camera for TESTING ONLY.

听Once you have completed all the required courses, REQUEST YOUR CERTIFICATE/BADGES via our online application! The processing time is approximately 4-6 weeks from the time of submission and includes both a digital certificate link and a printed physical certificate.
