When pursuing a career in dance, a Bachelor of Arts in Dance or Dance Minor, it is strongly recommended that students study ballet, modern and jazz dance techniques. Students should take advantage of all available choreography and performance opportunities, study art, music, and theatre, and view as many dance performances as possible.

While attending community college, students should seek choreographic and performance experience in theatre presentations and attend as many dance performances as possible. To satisfy the Lower Division Requirements at CSUDH take ballet, modern, jazz, tap and other selected dance styles, acting, and a Dance Appreciation class. Most of these courses taken at community colleges will transfer to CSUDH and count toward your BA in Dance or Dance Minor.
