Welcome to Dance at Dominguez Hills!

Department Coordinator: Doris Ressl Acosta

Welcome to Dance at Dominguez Hills! Our vibrant and growing dance program is a training ground in contemporary, classical, and world dance styles. 听The Department of Theatre and Dance offers an undergraduate program, which leads to a Bachelor of Arts in Dance. Students can also compliment their dance major degree by receiving a Minor in Theatre or double major with a BA in Theatre.听 Dance classes are available to all CSUDH students who are most welcome to enroll in dance classes, take master classes, audition and participate in performances.听 CSUDH students work closely with a highly trained and experienced dance faculty. Students also have the opportunity to participate in master dance classes by regional and nationally known artists.

Here's what we offer:

Majors, minors, and non-majors have opportunities to train in dance by taking dance technique classes in Ballet, Modern, Jazz, Tap, Latin Social Dance, African Dance, and Hip Hop and more.

Students can enhance their well-being by taking Dance Kinesiology and Somatics and Conditioning.听

Rounding out the dance program we offer professional experiences to all with the following courses:

  • Global Dance Perspectives,
  • Forces and Figures in Dance,
  • Dance Composition,
  • Musical Theatre Studies,
  • Dance Pedagogy,
  • Dance for Children,
  • Acting, Costuming, Make-up & Hair, and other Technical Theatre courses,
  • Dance Production and Senior Dance Thesis

In addition to the essential foundations of dance, students have choreographic and performance opportunities.

  • Two mainstage dance concerts are held in the University Theatre featuring student, faculty, and guest choreographers and performers.
  • Mosaic Dance Company, a pre-profession dance company offers choreographic and performance opportunities throughout the year. By enrolling in DAN 230 Dance Touring Ensemble, students have opportunities to work with guest choreographers and experience working in a dance company setting.
  • Students can attend the American College Dance Association Conference where they take master classes, perform, and network with regional artists for potential jobs and attending graduate schools.

Please come visit us, peruse our website, attend a performance, take a dance class and experience the joy of dance.
