The (SISJ) supports journalism students at CSUDH by providing a collaborative space to discuss academic and professional ambitions. The student-run organization creates networking opportunities with industry professionals to help members further develop their skills and career paths.

SISJ seeks to offer educational support for student journalists while reinforcing the core values that guide independent journalism. SISJ is committed to ensuring that all interested students gain proficiency in the principles and practices of the profession, preparing them to engage thoughtfully and responsibly in the field.

Each spring, in observance of , SISJ convenes a panel of journalism professionals and media experts to examine the issues confronting the news industry.
