Adam Y. Elrashidi is an assistant professor in the Journalism Program at CSUDH. In addition to teaching major and core courses, he is the faculty adviser for student media, including The Bulletin campus newspaper.
As a professional journalist, Prof. Elrashidi has worked with some of the industry鈥檚 most respected news organizations. While based in Washington, D.C., he was a producer at Al Jazeera International and later an on-air reporter for Newsy (now Scripps News). He went on to serve as an executive producer overseeing local coverage at NBC San Diego.
In 2021, Prof. Elrashidi moved from D.C. to Los Angeles for a year-long residency at the University of Southern California, where he mentored student journalists with Annenberg Media. He joined CSUDH in Fall 2023 and became a full-time faculty member the following year.
Prof. Elrashidi is also an accomplished editorial cartoonist, with work featured by CNN, The Huffington Post, and Game Informer. In 2018, he was a panelist at San Diego Comic-Con for his role in the award-winning short documentary "Drawn 好色先生," which explored the intersection of comic books, diversity, and stereotypes.
He received a master's in media studies from Syracuse University and his bachelor's degree in journalism from the University of Minnesota.
