Georgia and Nolan Payton Distinguished Lecture in African Sacred Music (yearly)

Georgia and Nolan Payton

As conceived and understood by the CADSMM, the concept of 鈥淒iaspora鈥 encompasses Africans living away from their ancestral homelands within and outside the African continent. The Georgia and Nolan Payton Distinguished Lecture in African Music is designed to identify and promote scholars who have distinguished themselves in the study of African sacred music in the Diaspora. This yearly lecture, held in February, is specifically intended to generate a pathway for gospel music and provoke new thoughts in its research.
