Which student population does the program serve?
Upward Bound serves听high school students from low-income families and high school students from families in which neither parent holds a bachelor's degree. The goal of Upward Bound is to increase the rate at which participants complete secondary education and enroll in and graduate from institutions of post-secondary education.听
What are the eligibility requirements?
You are eligible to apply to听the Upward Bound Program if you:听
- come from a听low-income听family as determined by the U.S. Department of Education听income level table听
- are enrolled in one of our target schools (Jefferson, Carson, Gardena, Leuzinger, or Hawthorne High School)听
- are a听potential first-generation听college student (neither parent听or听guardian has earned a bachelor's degree)听
- are motivated and interested in attending college听
- are a US citizen or permanent resident with a valid social security card听
How can you apply?
To apply to the Upward Bound Program, just follow the simple steps below:听
- Step 1: Complete the Intake Form to learn more
- Step 2: Complete the Upward Bound Application if you are ready to apply
- Step 3: Gather your supporting documents.听You will need to gather the following documents to complete your application:
- Copy of your Social Security Card听
- The previous year Income Tax form when applying to the program to verify your parent鈥檚 Taxable Income
What documents are needed?
- UB will need to verify your Social Security Card, to match the number and name of student applying to the program听
- UB will need to verify the parent/ guardian Income Tax forms听
- The most current High School Transcript is required with the UB application听
