BIO

CSUDH OT Alum, Ciara Nagao, joined our faculty team in Spring 2025. She graduated in 2021 with C15, and she works in the hospital as an acute care occupational therapist.聽 You may see Ciara on campus guest lecturing in the classroom or helping out at departmental events.

RESEARCH EXPERIENCE

The Experiences of Occupational Therapists Working with High-Needs, High-Risk Youth

  • Responsible for all aspects of participant recruitment, participant interview, interview transcriptions and thematic coding for this phenomenological study of the lived experiences of OTs servicing High-needs, high-risk youth
  • Presented the findings of this research at CSUDH Student
    Research Day and was awarded 1st place for our category
  • Presented again to a round-table of established professionals at
    the University and was selected as one of ten teams to represent
    the school at the Statewide Research Competition
  • During quarantine orders, recorded an oral presentation of our
    research and presented in virtual live Q&A time with judges at
    CSU Statewide Research Competition, competing against
    graduate students from across 23 California State Universities, in
    which we were awarded 2nd place for our category
