Dr. Rosario Mart铆nez Pogar received her B.A. in English from the University of Colorado, Colorado Springs, and her M.A. and Ph.D. in English, with a specialization in Chicana/o/x and Latina/o/x literature and queer/sexuality studies, from the University of Southern California. Her research curates an archive of representations of transfeminine subjects and traces a transfeminist genealogy in Chicana lesbian feminist and Chicano gay literature. Reflecting her research that centers trans and queer subjects, her teaching draws on oppositional methodologies to counter the exclusion of queer and trans students from institutional spaces. In a time of rising and rampant transphobia and queerphobia, she believes it is necessary to create safe/brave spaces in the classroom and beyond for trans and queer students to articulate and theorize their struggles and strategies for resistance. She sees forging solidarity and building coalition as among the primary goals of her scholarship, teaching, and service.
