Advisory Board Bylaws

(1) Mission:听The mission of the CBAPP Board of Advisors (BOA) is to provide support, guidance and leadership to the Dean on issues pertaining to the school鈥檚 academic excellence.听

(2) Functions:听Members will have at least five of the following responsibilities:

• Attend at least one Advisory Board meeting each year.
• Sponsor (Silver, Gold, Platinum or Presenting Sponsor) South Bay Economic Forecast Conference. (give or get)听
• Develop a shared vision and contribute to the Strategic Plan for CBAPP.
• Communicate perspectives on the business community needs with regard to the skills and education required of the CBAPP graduates.
• Support CBAPP鈥檚 AACSB and NASPAA accreditation efforts.
• Serve as guest speakers in classes or help obtain guest speakers.
• Interact with appropriate campus constituencies regarding career development, internships and active learning opportunities.
• Assist in Assurance of Learning.
• Publicize the accomplishments and capabilities of the college to the broader business community.
• Assist CBAPP in fundraising efforts.
• Advise on curriculum issues.
• Advise on marketing and public relations.
• Identify internship and service learning opportunities.
• Recruit students for admission to CSUDH and CBAPP.
• Suggest opportunities for student workplace visits.
• Identify revenue sources for CSUDH and CBAPP.
• Suggest members for service on CBAPP Board.
• Participate in classroom presentations, meetings, seminars, mock interviews, etc.

(3) Membership:听Membership of the Board will consist of the Dean (ex officio), Associate Dean (ex officio), and approximately 15-20 members outside of the College.听Initial appointments are made by the Dean with roughly one-third of the members with one-, two-, and three-year terms. Continued appointments (both renewable and new) will be made by the Dean and the Board and will be for three years. 听A staff member will be appointed by the Dean to take the minutes.

(4) Officers:听The officers will consist of a Chair and Vice-Chair.听Terms run from July 1 to June 30.听The initial Chair appointment will be made by the Dean.听All other Chair terms and all other officers will be elected by the Board.听The Board may elect other officers as deemed necessary for the transaction and business of the organization.听The terms are for two years and no individual may serve the same position for more than two consecutive terms.听听

• The Chair will set the agenda for the Board meeting with input from the Dean.
• The Chair will run the annual meeting.
• The Chair will confer regularly with the Dean regarding strategic and tactical issues and may contact members for their advice outside of meetings.
• The Vice Chair works with the Chair and runs the Board meetings in the absence of the Chair.

(5) Meeting:听There will be one meeting each semester; one in early November and the other in late April - after the tax-return filing deadline. Robert鈥檚 Rules of Order, Newly Revised, shall govern all meetings of the Board.

(6)听Committees:听There are no standing committees at this time.听The Chair may appoint ad hoc committees, as appropriate.

(7)听Decision making:听Official positions or recommendations of the CBAPP Board will be a simple majority vote by a raise of hands, roll call, electronic, or voice vote, as needed.

(8) Quorum:听A majority of members in attendance in person or on the phone are needed to represent a quorum.
